The Richmond Avenue History Project
The Richmond Avenue History Project was formed in order to bring an awareness of Richmond’s historical importance to both its residents and to the community. As the years continue to pass, the memories of life on early Richmond Avenue are in danger of being lost forever. The stories passed on by our parents and grandparents are likely to be forgotten. The photos showing early Richmond Avenue could be deteriorating. Gone forever may be the images of horse drawn carriages, sled races, and even Major League baseball played on the Avenue. It is the hope of the Richmond Avenue History Project to collect historical information and convert it into a media which can be accessed by all.
The community's input is needed in this project! Any information about Richmond Avenue is welcome!
Some examples that would be of interest are:
Stories about individuals or families that lived on the street- Some residents are trying to list the names of people that owned their house since it was first built and this might be useful. Any information about prominent Richmond Avenue residents is particularly welcome.
Stories about daily life or community events that were held
Photos of almost anything-The outside of homes on Richmond showing the original architecture are of particular interest. Some residents are trying to restore front porches to the original appearance and seeing a photo would be helpful. Most residents would enjoy seeing any older photos of Richmond Avenue.
